  • Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is responsible for removing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from the body. MLD uses gentle, rhythmic movements and varying degrees of pressure (usually light pressure) to encourage the flow of lymph fluid through the lymphatic vessels. It can help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and support the body's immune system. MLD is often used as a part of post-surgery recovery, or for certain medical conditions like cancer, lymphedema, and autoimmune conditions. It is typically performed by trained therapists who have expertise in lymphatic drainage techniques.

For those looking for MLD for post-surgery like bbls, tummy tucks, lipo, or even orthopedic surgery, choose the 30-minute or 45-minute Post-op MLD service. If you need fibrosis/scar tissue work with the MLD, book the 60-minute session. Please wait at least 21 days for fibrosis work. Depending on each person, you may need 2-3 sessions a week to prevent fibrosis and seromas.

Hooga PEMF Infrared Mat with Amethyst & Tourmaline

The Hooga PEMF Infrared Mat is a powerful, all-in-one wellness device that combines the benefits of PEMF therapy and infrared heat therapy to help you relax, recover, and improve your overall health.

Precautions and Contraindications

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy mats are increasingly popular for pain relief, inflammation reduction, and cellular regeneration. However, there are certain precautions and contraindications to consider when using them to ensure safety and effectiveness:

Precautions

  1. Gradual Introduction: Start with shorter sessions or lower intensity settings, especially if you’re new to PEMF therapy. This helps your body adjust and prevents discomfort or overstimulation.

  2. Hydration: PEMF therapy can increase cellular activity, which might lead to mild dehydration. Drink plenty of water before and after sessions to help your body flush out toxins.

  3. Monitoring Symptoms: For conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or chronic pain, start slowly and monitor for any increase in pain or discomfort. While PEMF is generally safe, some individuals may experience mild discomfort initially.

  4. Avoid Metal Implants: Use caution with metal implants. While many people with surgical implants can use PEMF therapy safely, higher-intensity PEMF devices may interfere with certain types of metal.

  5. Limit Session Time: For general wellness, a session time of 10-30 minutes is common. Extended sessions may lead to overstimulation or slight fatigue, so adjust according to your comfort level.

Contraindications

  1. Pregnancy: PEMF therapy should not be used by pregnant women, as the effects on fetal development are not yet well-researched.

  2. Epilepsy: People with epilepsy or a history of seizures should avoid PEMF therapy, as the electromagnetic fields may trigger a seizure in some cases.

  3. Implanted Medical Devices: Avoid using PEMF mats if you have a pacemaker, insulin pump, or cochlear implant, as PEMF fields may interfere with these devices.

  4. Active Bleeding: PEMF can stimulate blood flow, so it should not be used in cases of active bleeding, including menstruation (for those sensitive) or internal bleeding.

  5. Cancer: Individuals with active cancer should avoid PEMF therapy, as it could potentially stimulate cell growth, although more research is needed to fully understand this interaction.

  6. Children and Adolescents: PEMF therapy is generally not recommended for children unless prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional.

Additional Tips

  • Always consult with a healthcare provider, especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions or are taking medications.

  • Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe use and maintenance.

  • Stop use immediately if you experience any discomfort, dizziness, or other unusual symptoms.
